Large capsule for the Olympics and Jubilee

Youngsters from a Kilburn nursery buried a Commemoration time capsule in the grounds of a new set of apartments, themed for the Olympics and the Jubilee.

The tiny tots from Fordwych Nursery in Fordwych Road, planted the memorabilia in the nature reserve surrounding Mill Apartments in Mill Lane, Kilburn.

The Commemoration time capsule included a large poster decorated in blue, red and white to represent the Union Jack and symbolise the Queen’s Jubilee, a book of memories with a page from each of the children at the nursery and memorabilia from the Olympics, Paralympics and Jubilee including cuddly mascot characters, mugs and flags.

The event was organised by construction companies Taylor Wimpey and Willmott Dixon, and the children were also educated on the importance of safety on a building site.

Ingrid Skinner, from Taylor Wimpey, said: “The time capsule was a great opportunity to celebrate the events taking place in London this year, but also an opportunity to involve the local community.
